The Recreation Department is located at Salem Town Hall, 33 Geremonty Drive, second level of the building.
The office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.

The Recreation Department is responsible for scheduling youth and adult programs for the citizens of Salem. We develop, provide and maintain recreational program facilities and leisure resources for the citizens and visitors of the community.

Unfortunately, no. We require payment for the program at the time of registration.
Call the Recreation Department at 890-2140 and we will check the availability of the date and fill out a form for you. There is a fee for groups to use the park: $1.00 for residents and $1.50 for non-residents. A confirmation letter will be mailed to you giving your group authorization to use the park and informing you as to what the fee for the use of the park is.
The Board of Selectmen set the hours for Trick or Treat with the recommendation of the Salem Police Chief.
The Town of Salem has two canoe launches. One is behind Garabedian Drive, which is off Hampshire Road and the other on Town Farm Road (parking on the same side of the bridge).
When you come into the Recreation Department to register, inform the Recreation Staff that you will miss the first class and we will notify the instructor. If you mail in your registration, please make a note of this on the registration form and we will let the instructor know.
You can call the Recreation Department at 890-2140 and press 2 and there will be a list of program cancellations if necessary.
We hire lifeguards, Playground Directors and Playground leaders each Summer. There is no age requirement, however, all life guards must be certified by the American Red Cross as life guards (must be 15 years of age to take the class) and have first aid training. As with all positions, individuals are hired depending on the experience that they have that is in relation to the job description. Individuals who are applying for Playground positions are hired depending on their experience, etc. Applications are accepted until all positions are filled. You can obtain an application through the Human Resources link.
A Facility Request Form is required; you can obtain a form from the Recreation Department.
